The Cornerstone
for Tomorrow is the Generosity of Today
A
cornerstone is defined as the most basic element, a basic foundation.
Here at the YMCA, our cornerstone is the generous spirit of our
members. Since 1909, gifts of time, talent and treasure have made
the YMCA a strong community asset. This tradition continues today
as family and friends of the Y support its programs and insure
its future.
Time
and Talent
Volunteer
service increases the number of quality programs while
enriching the lives of everyone involved. It is through volunteer
service that the Y seeks to help individuals grow as responsible
family members and community citizens while increasing their own
self-worth. Annually, almost 1,300 volunteers give over 35,000
hours of service to our YMCA. To find our more about sharing your

Treasure
The
YMCA depends on its caring and generous members for financial
support. Membership and program fees alone cannot cover the costs
associated with providing, maintaining and improving the quality
of YMCA programs and facilities. The avenues of financial support
are annual campaigns, capital fund drives, endowment, memorials,
special events and in-kind gifts.
Annual
Support
The annual support drive is conducted each year in winter/spring.
Led by volunteers, this fundraising effort provides funds for
scholarships and youth programs. Year end gifts are also appreciated.
Capital
Fund Drives
Since 1910 YMCA volunteers have conducted
campaigns to build YMCA facilities. Currently, the YMCA is in the middle of a $2 million Capital Campaign to raise money for the Lee Branch facility. To contribute to the Lee Branch Capital Campaign, contact the YMCA at 229-436-0531.
Endowment Planned giving is crucial as the YMCA works to
build a strong future for our community. Endowment contributions
may include cash, securities, charitable remainder trusts, charitable
annuity trusts, gift annuities, life estates, bequests, and life
insurance. Those who make a planned gift to the YMCA or an outright
gift to the endowment fund are recognized at an annual luncheon
as Cornerstone Club members.
Memorials
Gifts made in memory are a lasting tribute to special friends
and family members. Memorials may also be made by the purchase
of a brick in the Y’s Pathway to the Future sidewalk.
Special
Events
Each year, the YMCA holds special events such as the Holiday
Chili Run, the Fall Festival, and the Flint River Fall Finale Soccer Tournament. In addition to spotlighting YMCA programs, these special
events raise money for youth programs through sponsorship and
registration fees.
In-Kind
Gifts
The YMCA appreciates the contribution of quality items such as
sports supplies, technology and office equipment. For more information
